Hotel Edelweiss 

I (a non-skier!) stayed here for a week with my husband, who was out every day on the slopes. Every year we go somewhere in Austria, and every year I am disappointed by something at the hotel we stay at. But this year, no. I can't recommend Hotel Edelweiss enough. We arrived late, after dinner had finished, and, after checking in and being shown around the hotel by Khalida, the lovely receptionist, we were presented with more delicious food than we could eat. Our room, 202, was huge (usually ski hotel rooms are tiny as they assume that the inhabitants will be out all day), extremely comfortable, with a living room area and a balcony with incredible mountain views. I really appreciated having a bathtub as well as a separate shower. The room was spotless (the housekeeping staff were great, and really friendly). The rest of the hotel was lovely, the restaurant spacious and comfortable, the bar big but also cosy, with a log fire, and the smaller stube was perfect for me and my laptop. The sauna/dampfbad/herbal room were all immaculate and never got too busy. The relaxation room was large enough and had great views. I am INCREDIBLY picky about food, but most days there was something I really wanted to eat, which doesn't usually happen! On the two occasions I asked either for something different for my main, or for an item to be replaced (e.g., sweet potato with potato) there was absolutely no problem at all. I actually ate fish on one occasion, which I haven't done for years, because it sounded so good. The best thing about the hotel is the staff - as well as Khalida and Jorg front of house, I need to mention both Pauline and Anna in the restaurant, and Rocco and Kai in the bar. Also the masseur Gabor was brilliant - if you have time, definitely book a massage with him. I had a full-body aromatherapy massage and almost fell asleep during it, it was so relaxing. All in all, I can't fault this place. As a non-skier it was perfect for me. The staff couldn't do enough to make sure I was fine as I worked away in the stube. Perfect, 5-star. Hopefully see you again next year! And I WILL go snow-shoeing with Kai then :)
