Hotel Schärdinger Hof

Personable owners and attentive staff of this comfortable and very clean hotel show genuine interest in experience of guests in this Baroque village which reminded me of an idyllic movie set. Meals, prepared solely for guests, offer delightful Austrian cuisine much of which is harvested in the area. Staff's knowledge of several languages made us feel at home. Service was outstanding.

What a nice place just 100 metres off the beautiful main place of this lovely baroque town. Got a double room for a very reasonable price with wifi, breakfast and parking spot included. An old place with history and different than all the modern hotels nowadays. Very friendly female owner, great breakfast choice. Definitely a place to come back :-)

It is the perfect place to stay downtown with little children :-) We had really big rooms, apartments really, with great beds, and excellent service! We were thrilled to see our room and the view. What a great location, too!

We arrived rather late and without reservations and without knowing anything about the town so we just chanced on this property, but it was a stroke of luck. First of all, the town is "best-preserved altstadt" in Austria and warrants more than the one overnight we spent. The hotel room was quite large (included a couch) and a little outdated in decor but efficient. No elevator, but there are only 2 upper floors. The owner/manager was just about to leave for the day, but she gave us all of the essential info and we had a great time.

The breakfast next morning was the best part of the stay. The rooms are charmingly decorated with regional motifs, suits of armor, linens, and with very good selection of foods. I could have stayed there all day.

Breakfast Room Delight

Exquisite Care

Spacious rooms with great breakfast for a great price!

We don't know how this hotel got the very positive review from Mike C or the other guests on Booking.com. We have just returned from a two night stay. While the location is excellent and the hotel does have a beautiful "mediaeval" breakfast room the bedrooms we saw are urgently needing refurbishment. We refused the first room and were shown another two, none of which met the expected standard. In the room we finally accepted, the bathroom was a disaster with black mould in the grout around the bath, cracked tiles and old sanitary-ware needing urgent replacement. We were not able to enjoy an evening meal in the hotel as it had a group booking. The hotel displays a four star rating at reception (dated 2008). Something has gone seriously wrong since then.
However we must say that the staff were very friendly and the standard of cleanliness was good. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this hotel and would not stay there again.
