We found the property trough Booking, with its excellent chart to plot a stay when you're underway. But we were not able to book through booking as I had cancelled my Amex card definitively without carrying an alternative weith me. There is almost no European hotel that still accepts Amex anymore. Arriving at the guesthouse was a complete surprise. From the N road from the autobahn to Berkheim you could see the monastry already in the distance against a wall of trees.Quite impressive! Once inside (which is a story in itself because you have to unlock a locker next to the posbox outside for the keycard as soon as you arrive after 18.00 hr when personell leaves. The key pannel is hardly visible in the late sharp evening sun, but after several attemps we managed) we entered a halway of a real mansion where a mansize sculpture of Franciscus od \Assisi welcomes you. Some moaning and bird sounds welcome you from the sound system. The mansion is located after the actual monastery and the farmbuildings behind the monastery. It has 12 rooms, all named after Roman Catholic saints. Nice and comfortable with an in room bathroom with shower. A plus is they don't have the matrasses covered with plastic protectors. Cotton protectors as we like it. I missed some info about where there are restaurants in the neighbourhood, but we were able to find a nice one on our own in Berkheim and had some Wiener Schnitsels. It was so quiet we loved it and slept well. After a decent breakfast we untertook the second leg of our journey from mid Italie to The Netherlands. One minus point is its internet connection via wifi doesn't function correctly.
