Hotel Schwan

It was in a perfect place and had a great price!

The bed was really comfortable, and access to the hotel is easy. But the window should be protected against sunlight. Thanks

The hotel check in is a half a block away, which is initially confusing. Downstairs from the hotel is an Italian restaurant which is pretty decent. Makes the hall smell good. The room and bathroom smelt a little like cigarettes. The room is decent and simple. Has a tv, WiFi, desk, dresser and beds. The bathroom is tiny and not very modern, not spotless but decent for the price. Bathroom is outside of the room in the hall but private one shower and toilet in each.

Very welcoming & friendly A clean bed with no frills Close to the motorway so easy to access Just what I needed

Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel. It was an average hotel and the rooms had the basics: comfy bed, table and chair, tv and towels were provided.Although my room didn’t include an ensuite, the shared bathrooms were kept tidy and were available most of the time. Wi-Fi was superb. Checking-in is only easy if you can speak German as either of the staff did not speak English, which does not come to a surprise with it being in Germany of course. However, because of the language barrier it made checking-in a slower process. As for checking-out, it was easy. It seemed like you could just leave the keys on the desk. Personally, I was leaving at 5am for my flight home so I left a note with the basic German I know. Also, the staff aren’t immediately at the desk at all hours of the day so don’t be as confused as I was. There is a bell to ring to catch their attention. The restaurant that shares the building with the hotel is not anything special but if you’re pushed for choices it will do.The location of the hotel is a slight problem as it is about a 30-40 minute walk from the centre of Eschweiler but for the fair pricing it is expected. I did manage to find a Lidl, McDonalds and mini shopping complex relatively close to the hotel however. This hotel is average but it is clean, safe and you can’t go wrong for the price. If you are travelling on a budget and aren’t bothered about luxuries then this place is for you.

The bed was bad, I almost fell throu it.The shower was not clean.

Not glamours but decent for the price

Standard, but satisfied: still alive :)

So I've stayed in the hotel belonging to the pizzeria down the street, the room fare was 25€ per night/person in a single room.

Room outfit is simple, you get a bed, a chair and a small table, also a TV and some closets. Fair enough for a couple of nights or when you're there for work. In short, it's a room that you wanna sleep in and spend your day on the road.
The rooms are clean, the bed suffices to get the sleep you need, and the staff at the reception will help you with any problems that might arise. Their German isn't too good though.

Shared bathrooms are okay, there's like 5 for the entire house but I've had little problems with getting one to get ready for work when other house guests were present. As always, don't forget your flip flops when taking a shower.
You can park your car right in front of the house which is next to the road - if you leave the windows open, it can get a bit noisy during the night and early mornings, which proved to be no problem for me.

No AC in the rooms, obvs. not needed in winter, the heaters work excellently though. You won't get cold during the night.
The wifi in the house is not only free, it's also really a good connection. On your phone, laptop, tablet, you name it.

The hotel is located not far from the A4 Autobahn, which makes it quite good value if you wanna commute to work by car. Maccas, Burger Kindg, Lidl and Real are also in the close vicinity of the hotel(a car is kind of a must, though). Also, a Volksbank Raiffeisenbank is literally(!) across the street of the hotel.

The next city centre is a 5 to 10 minute drive from the place, but you'll find an Aldi and some other shops there.

Now to the less pleasant things - I'd not recommend the hotel for people that like to cook for themselves. The fridge wasn't working, the equipment in the kitchen was heavily used and the oven I'll probably not even speak of.
So when you're here, better go and eat out.

Luckily, the restaurant the hotel belongs to gives you a pretty good meal for an average price. The pizza in particular is tasty, I would recommend you try it out should you stay there.

Let me finish here, for a short trip of whatever kind, the fair is alright for the room you get. If you're traveling through the city of Aachen, this hotel is not for you, for it's a long way by public transport to even get there.
Also, bring your own breakfast if you do not wish to go to maccas or bk for that.

You get what you pay for - also good Pizza and WIFI!

low price and internet works, but hole house uneven, steep stairs only usuable with hand rail. Front door not closed and not monitored hence not safe. Room only one socket. \did not trust the shower - only one for 10 rooms. The shower also is the toilet. This hotel is managed by another hotel, and it is there you need to park which claims to be rated 8.2. This is more a 2.8...

Ate pizza here while staying at hotel up the road. Very basic, absolutely no frills eatery bordering on bleak but the pizza was tasty and actually pretty good value for money. The sort of place that you go to once to fulfil a need for pizza but one visit is probably all you need
