Alhambra 

This hotel is in all of the guide books, and there are many reasons why. First, La Orotava is a lovely town. Just 10 minutes from Puerto de la Cruz, but with a totally different ambience. PDLC is a high rise hotel tourist venue. When we saw PDLC it confirmed the reason we chose La Orotava for our stay. La Orotava is quiet and peaceful, without feeling like it was created for tourists. No high rise buildings, and a working town for regular people. So, my recommendation to anyone is to stay in La Orotava and take a taxi to PDLC for any dinners or sight seeing there. The employees of Hotel Alhambra are stellar. We interacted with Jessica most frequently, and she was so pleasant and helpful, but everyone was great. When we arrived in La Orotava there was a festival and many of the streets were blocked and our GPS would not plot an alternative course to bypass. We called the Hotel and one of the guys there walked to where we had parked the car, jumped in with us, and guided us safely to the hotel. Breakfast is extensive and wonderful selection is provided. The facility is beautiful, our room and bathroom were huge, and we had a view out of one window of Mt. Teide, and we could see the ocean on the other side of the room. Numerous seating areas are available indoors and outside. Free coffee and tea are available 27/7. Here is a tip for those taking a taxi to and from dinner or PDLC. There is a busy taxi stand at the bus station just an easy 5 minute walk away (Estacion de Guaguas). You will find a taxi almost any time there. On the way back the drivers seemed unfamiliar with the hotel location, and so we just had them take us to the bus station, a location familiar to all. Very easy, no confusion, everyone happy!
