A great place to stay, just perfect for what we wanted, nice room all amenities, great price, great pub and staff, food especially the Thai menu, would like to thank John the governor very helpful in booking, great shower in the bathroom, it was perfect for our 2 night stay whilst visiting our son.

Stayed here on 7th August as visiting Chapel Down winery - which was just 4-5 mins away by taxi. Landlord of the pub / B&B couldn't have been more helpful and very friendly and welcoming. The room we stayed in which was the premier double room, was fantastic. Spotlessly clean, great bathroom with powerful shower and choice of a bath too and the complimentary tea / coffee facilities were great. Bed was extremely comfortable. Highly recommend staying here, great value for money... would book here again without hesitation... thank you!

booked an overnight stay about 2 weeks before 2020 lockdown as a base for a Chapel Down vineyard tour. Several re-arrangements later John had no problem accomodating us on our 3rd arranged tour and gave us plenty of info. for our arrival and trip to the vineyard. We were welcomed very early in the day and luckily able to use the premium room immediately to leave our bags, then shortly afterwards catching a taxi to our desitnation.  The room was more than adequate for our overnight stay with a comfy bed, enough facilities and a large bathroom with shower cubicle and a whirlpool bath.  After a walk around Tenterden we returned to enjoy a good choice of beers and wine in the rear sun trap of a garden.  Despite my wifes quite tricky dietary needs, the Thai chef made her the most enjoyable and tasty meal she has eaten out in a while and mine was superb!  Cannot fault them for value, friendliness and being very attentive throughout our time there.

This is a traditional and homely pub that serves great food. The people who work in the pub do everything they can to make sure you are looked after. Superb atmosphere and really welcoming and well worth a visit.

John at the Caxton has taken the bold move to have authentic Thai food prepared at his pub to eat in or take away on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday nights...  and wow, is it good.  Great food, great atmosphere, great value for money... will be going again this week...

Had a couple of days wondering around the area. What a lovely place to stay. We were made to feel welcome our room was magic the bed was really comfortable so much so that we nearly missed breakfast on the first morning . We appeared after breakfast had finished not expecting to get anything. We were made up to be told we could still have breakfast.  A magic place to stay . If you are  in the area don't hesitate to stay or just have a meal . 

Had a lovely stay here. Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We were made to feel extremely welcome by the owner and assistant manager. Continental breakfast was included but as the chef was in the kitchen a full cooked option was given which was a nice touch. Felt like one of the locals and will definitely stay here again if we return to Tenterden.

Arrived at the property late afternoon ahead of a civic function in the evening, warmly greeted by the landlord, had a cheeky pint before checking in, the beer was excellent. Checked in and was told as they had a premium room free they would upgrade us at no extra cost ( thank you very much ). The room was perfect, large comfortable bed, huge en suite with a shower and a whirlpool bath, which was lovely. After changing we returned to the bar and asked if they could book us a taxi. This however seemed an impossible task. Fortunately one of the very friendly locals took us to our function, for which we are very great full. After our function we returned to the pub and enjoyed a very pleasant evening with the landlord and some locals. What a great night.  I can’t recommend this pub highly enough. Thank you John for your hospitality.

Lovely old building with a surprisingly good refurb in the premier room we stayed in . A very comfortable stay for one night whilst enjoying Tenterden. The landlord is a friendly chap who runs a great community pub . Situated at the end of the high street it is close to the KESR station and The Old Dairy.

We stayed for one night at The William Caxton, which was ideal for our visit to the Gusbourne Vineyard. Our room, although compact, was clean, tidy and provided us with everything we needed. The bathroom, again compact,  had a great shower. John, the landlord was so helpful, changing our booking when we had to cancel and allowing us to leave our car for the day, whilst we went to Gusbourne. He recommended a local taxi firm, Aero Cars and advised early booking.

Excellent B&B

Very Accomodating

We chose this as we wanted to be close to Chapel Down. Great host John who sorted us out a taxi to the winery. Adequate  bedroom very clean. We had the jacuzzi bath parents had a smaller room. Very comfy beds. Ate in the restaurant. They do  Thai on certain nights. Very tasty. Lovely staff. They are not currently doing breakfast due to covid, but there is a cafe about 500 yds down the road. We'll placed for the town and steam train. Good value for money.

We stayed here for one night following a deluxe tour of ChapelDown.  The owner John was very accommodating with an early check in and organising parking for us. Good value and nice & clean. Will be back.
