Character, beautiful house, welcoming host, clean, great breakfast

Great location, lovely rooms and perfect breakfast - Thank You

This guest house provided a wonderful stay - an elegant large room, top-class bed linen, peaceful, parking in grounds, friendly hostess. For the same price as a budget hotel it offers a different and superior experience. The hosts provide many thoughtful touches like home made yoghurt and jams at breakfast.  Easy 15 min walk into town over railway station. We only stayed one night as a stop-over on a drive north but wished we could have spent longer there.  We actually felt cared-for, which was very unusual.

A fabulous B&B with individual rooms, each named for someone interesting in history. Within the room we had a sheet with details of the person our room was named after which gave context to it.The grounds are filled with interesting sculptures and the art theme flows through the place.Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. We would stay here again if we are in the area.

Great breakfast in a pretty dining room! Magalie was a great hostess, very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was also large. Very nice salon to enjoy coffee, tea, and small sweet treats. A little oasis  close to town. Parking is on site with an electronic gate. Definitely recommend.

Beautifully decorated bed and breakfast from the room to the breakfast table. The room was comfortable,  good bed and shower, quiet. Breakfast was wonderful,  home made cake and yogurts,  great coffee, fresh orange juice, excellent croissants and bread.
A good place to stay, restaurants nearby.  Parking behind the property.

Lovely bed and breakfast

A beautiful house with tastefully decorated rooms and a very comfortable bed. It really felt like a home from home with a key to the front door and parking in the driveway. I appreciated having access to the beautiful garden and the residents’ lounge to be able to make tea or coffee at any time. Breakfast was superb and Magalie was very attentive to our needs - she obviously takes a lot of pride in offering a great service to her guests. 

It’s an easy twenty minute walk to the centre of Bourges or the no.1 bus stops right outside the property and is free to use , just hop on. 

I have to say that I didn’t enjoy the shared breakfast table with other guests, I found it quite uncomfortable and awkward and it didn’t make me want to linger over breakfast which was a shame.

Home from home

L’Oustal en Berry is located within an easy walk to the old town of Bourges and the property provides secure on site parking if you are driving. Our lovely host had as much English as I had French but that didn’t matter as we managed to communicate quite well with the few words we had and charades. 
We stayed in early May in one of the four rooms, the Camille Claudel room which was very comfortable. Breakfast was in the dining room downstairs which was great, it was also lovely to meet other travellers at breakfast who gave us tips on places to visit. Overall a lovely place to stay.

Beautiful B&B in Bourges

L’Oustal is easy to find via Satnav and parking is very good. You have to access the hotel and parking via closed electric gates, so just park up across the road and use the intercom.

Check in was very welcoming and efficient. The house is a lovely old mansion with the aforementioned gated entry for the car and quirky sculptures in the gardens. The owner is a charming lady and our room (Liane de Pougy) is large, comfortable, decorated in appropriate period style and has a lovely balcony overlooking the front lawn. The en-suite also feels delightfully period with huge double sinks, big fat radiators and a shower cabinet with an old fashioned latch.

Downstairs there’s a little residents’ lounge with facilities for making tea, coffee, cold drinks etc. and there are even wee trays so that you can carry your beverages out to the garden or up to your room.

Breakfast is served in a lovely dining room with most guests seated at the main table. It was typical continental fare with orange juice, fresh fruit salad, yogurts and a nice selection of cheeses, cold meats, jams, bread and cake.

This is one of those places that you feel fortunate to discover. It has been a lovely place to stay for a couple of days and we look forward to a return visit.

A wonderful place to stay.

Lovely big family room in beautiful house. Quirky garden with secure parking. The host was wonderful and we were welcome to drinks and snacks on the terrace whenever we wanted. Lovely breakfast. We had a nice meal in Bourges and enjoyed the trail in the dark seeing the historic buildings lit up. My children aged 14 and 11 just loved it.

Perfect overnight stay when travelling across France

L’Oustal Is even more beautiful in real life than it is in the photos. It is very close to the train station. Once inside the lovely hotel, the proprietors are warm, kind, present when you need someone, yet not intrusive. The delicious breakfast was served in the gorgeous dining room with a warm fire. It is a central location: One could explore the countryside  by car or Bourges by foot. There was a salon available to guests for coffee and tea, cookies and candies, and books of the local area. I had tea here each evening, and one of the mornings when I had to wait, I was able to stay in the salon with my book. The bed linens were very soft; every aspect of the hotel was extremely clean. I plan to return here once again. L’Oustal will not disappoint!

Amazing place ! It was my first trip to Bourges for a business meeting . The house atmosphere is warm very welcoming host Magalie with who I had a great talk . I brought my mum for the trip and she was very about the place and felt very well welcome . 
The house has character and you feel home . Nice living room where you can chill and read a book or do some work . 
I won’t hesitate to go back there if I have to travel again in the region .
