Le Clos de Clessé

Le Clos de Clesse is in a fantastic location if you are heading for the Alps as only 5 minutes drive from the Autoroute. Our room was lovely - very comfy and felt like a proper bedroom, not one in a hotel.
We had opted for the Table d'hote and we were so glad we did. Andre and Tessy are charming. Andre's English is excellent and although Tessy was quieter, she still made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and accompanied by lots of delicious wine - at 50 euros a head, it was extremely good value. Breakfast again was amazing, and it was just really enjoyable to chat with Andre and Tessy (and Lucky the beagle!).
We were very sad to hear that they are hoping to sell and move back to their native Belgium, but if they don't we will definitely return.

Andre and Tessy are consummate hosts in every respect. They are not only friendly and relaxed, but they easily adapt to their guests needs. We arrived late in the afternoon and were looking for an early evening meal. There really were no available options since this was late November. Andre and Tessy immediately took control and insisted that we dine with them even on such short notice. It was not long before their table was spread with a splendid four course meal, including paired wines. They did all of this with great ease and graciousness. After our rather long drive to reach them we were extremely well cared for despite our lack of planning ahead. After eating we had such delightful conversation with rounds of laughter, punctuated with songs and music from Andre's extensive play list. The next morning at breakfast they ate with us. The table was laid with a bounty of cheeses, meats, breads, jams plus much more accompanied with a nice strong coffee and more great exchanges of ideas and stories. At our request Andre mapped out a full day of sightseeing and exploration in the surrounding area, which included a stop in at his favorite wine producer where we picked up an order of wine for them. In addition, we had a very comfortable accommodation for our two day stay. We had the separate small house with a sitting room on the ground floor and a spacious, imaginatively designed, well appointed bedroom and bath on the upper floor. We wished that we could have stayed longer, but we were due in Paris. Next time we will plan for a longer stay in warmer weather and take advantage of the lovely pool and a chance to dine outside. We encourage all who read this to plan for a few days stay and take advantage of two of the most charming and intelligently entertaining hosts situated in a beautiful tiny hamlet set in one of the loveliest parts of France.

We have been visiting Andre’s for 4 or 5 years and he and his wife are just great hosts. A lovely little B&B with a pool, great breakfasts and a very helpful, flexible and informative host. Only room for improvement is the WiFi performance is mediocre but this is a minor issue.

Our stay was glorious. Cottage accommodation lovely and homely. 5 star breakfast. Andre et Tessy were so welcoming and friendly - naturally knowledgeable about wines - great taste in music too. Will return.

My wife and I stayed with Andre and Tessy on our return journey from the south of France to the UK. The room was excellent (Guichard) but the table d'hote and the welcome from Andre and Tessy was outstanding. We shared several bottles of wine and a very stimulating conversation. What a lovely couple and what a brilliant place to stay. Also excellent value for money. We cannot wait to return.

A one night stay on the way back from the alps, very warm and welcoming, comfy beds, clean and well fitted bathroom, breakfast to die for and lovely hosts who make you feel really at home. Well situated for the motorway south or north only about 5 minutes from the Macon North junction, but in a pretty and tranquil village in the heart of the French countryside.

Pretty little cottage accommodation, spotlessly clean in a lovely town. Breakfast was excellent and lovely to eat outdoors on the terrace. Pet friendly which was a real bonus and host very friendly. Gardens beautiful and was easy to find. Next time we're in the area we would choose to stay here again.
