Fantastic
I'm very late in writing this review - but we had such a lovely stay - hopefully better late than never!! Found through the Alastair Sawday's French bed and breakfast guide - (it's called Little Meadows in English) the price seemed reasonable and the additional information and pictures on the website were inviting. Rang and spoke to Alison to make the booking - she was so friendly and helpful. Booked for 4 nights in the "yellow" room and had a fabulous stay. The room is huge - light and airy with a 4 poster canopied bed (+ 2 single beds if you are travelling as a family) well furnished and very comfortable. Bathroom (with a shower and a bath + 2 hand basins) was really clean - and well provided with little extras - shower gel, shampoo + conditioner, tissues, cotton wool pads etc plus a separate en suite toilet. Tea/coffee making facilities, a small fridge, TV (French + English) a settee and lots of local tourist information were available in the communal landing area. Managed to have a peep in to the "red" room - smaller and with perhaps a more romantic feel to it. Was also able to see the new barn conversion/gite across the courtyard - and it looks like an ideal spot for a family holiday - 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen/dining room/lounge combined. There was a pool, delightful courtyard gardens with places to sit in sun or shade - and the company of Dizzy, a young Gordon Setter. Alison also accepts well behaved dogs (and their owners) as guests and a couple stayed for a night with a dog while we were there - and it seemed to work very well for them - the grounds are completely secure and there is a large area of grass and trees. Finally - the food!!!!! - the included breakfast each morning was leisurely and really filling - cereal/croissants/fresh bread/fruit/yoghurt/juice/jams with tea/coffee/hot chocolate Alison also offers a "simple evening meal" - if you call 3 courses, with wine, bread and coffee simple!. We ate in 2 nights and the presentation as well as the food itself was wonderful - varied and full of flavour and it was great to have Alison explain the menu and some of the local dishes and products to us. This is a great place to stay in a rural farming area (there's a working farm across the road) with safe walking and cycling roads all around - but close enough to visit the coast and many interesting towns around the region. Hope to get back there some day
