Chalet Eterlou

Amazing place and location, we will definitely be back! Thanks to Alex and his wife we really felt at home. The chalet is very small and cozy and has a sauna and a jacuzzi which we enjoyed very much. Alex and his wife is very attentive and friendly. This little town is a gem, restaurants and lifts are within 5 min walk. We appreciate everything. Thank you and see you soon!

Amazing cozy Chalet with great service. Family atmosphere. If you are looking for an authentic Alp holiday this Chalet in the village of Les Brévières is the place to be. No restaurant in the chalet but there are a lot of nice places close by. Breakfast is served in the chalet in the morning. Close to the lifts. 5-star!

Alex and Roos looked after us so well throughout the week as did James and Alice their chef and host. The accommodation is very comfortable and the food was absolutely delicious. There was a great atmosphere every evening and we integrated very well with the other group, especially on the infamous fondue and quiz night!
It was a very special holiday in Eterlou and we have created some amazing new memories. Thank you both!

Having had our original accommodation cancelled, we were reallocated to the eterlou. This was one of the best moves that could have happened. Roos, Alex and Sky (the cat) were all very welcoming. We had the chalet, sauna, hot tub and open fire to ourselves for most of the trip due to being off season. The food was brilliant and I couldn’t fault the place. Thank you for a great trip.

We spent the second week of April in Eterlou. We lucked out with the snow with fresh powder in April. We were a large group of a few families and friends ranging from age 40 to age 70 and it was perfect for us. The team looked after us so well and the food was a real highlight, the best chalet food I've ever had by a long shot. We're keen skiers and snowboarders so being a couple minutes from the ski-lift was a huge bonus. The chalet was great in the evening, the fire always lit so you could hang out and chill before and after dinner and there's a couple bars always with a good bit of like just a few minutes away. then for the younger kids there's a tv room they can watch movies in etc. Also the kids ski school was only just down the road so super handy. Jacuzzi was great but really it came down to the staff. I even left a jumper behind and Roos posted it back to me in Ireland. Thank you!! Hope to be back in Brev next year.

Just read the reviews slating this place and thought I should chip in as I was looking to book again!

Been to a lot of places over the past 20 years and this was our first trip to Tignes. We were really pleased, I liked the cats (Hello Brev) and found the food to be good with a nice varied breakfast and also really enjoyed the hot tub which wasn't cold when I was in there (it was snowing heavily at the time).

Sauna was good fun too and overall I thought this was a good spot with a nice vibe and relaxed open fire ambiance.

You have to speak as you find but for the money this is really good value, staffed by nice people, near to the slopes, near to the bars, warm and quiet. Perhaps the other reviews had a run in with the owner, when we were there he seemed like a really decent bloke and we saw him in the bar for a few beers one night too...

Anyway, don't be put off and give this one a go, we had a great time and said we'd go again.

Authentic and nice chalet in the heart of the town

Fantastic!

Beautiful chalet in an unbeatable location

Great place to stay near slopes and friendly staff, food is good

An excellent accident

Great chalet for a large group - unreal location

If you like thread bare carpets on the stairs, worn out beds and barely working 1970's bathrooms you have found the right place. The food is lacking - breakfast is so disappointing, some pre packed sliced cheese, and meat from the local Spar, and some soggy stodgy pancakes that have been reheated - topped off with a massive jar of Nutella that's dried out and nobody uses, it'll be there next year i'm sure. No soup spoons for evening meals, and they make you re-use your knives and forks for starters and mains. But its ok because neither are worth eating. At least you can get some decent food out on the slopes. The boot room is like a hoarders shed - full of left over knackard ski's and a boot heater that is rusty and doesn't work - looks like it was rescued from the skip of a local hotel 20 years ago, extension cables littering the floor like a trip hazard, and it never gets locked. The hot tub is a cheap unbranded one, with a domestic type plug in to a socket sized heater which is unable to maintain the temperature in the cold alps so the moment the lid comes off it is losing its warmth, if you're not first in then its going to be a luke warm tub and pretty dirty with the protein bubble scum. The door doesn't close on the sauna so again it's not all that. There is no hand rail on the first stair case, just a nailed on bit of rope. The tiny Chalet has 3 cats living in there, so expect to be begged for food at meal times and open your bedroom to find a cat on your pillow. Because of the Chalets location it never gets any direct sunlight, so its constantly in the shade. There is pretty much no water pressure so if more than 1 person is showering or flushing a toilet (it sleeps 16) then it all fails, the taps don't fit the basins properly so your tooth brush is touching the porcelain. They don't have any mixer taps or thermostatic control valves so its either scalding hot or ice cold - take your pick. The location is really good, it's a shame that the chalet doesn't bother to clear the ice from the walking routes up the steep hills or path so you dice with death daily. But that really is the whole package - loads of potential but a can't be bothered reality. All the sponge on the seats in the dining room and lounge is worn out so sitting around talking at night is complimented with a numb backside. I have stayed in a fair few rough self catering ski apartments in France, but this was the worst accommodation I have had to endure. The best part of this place is the New Zealander chalet girl, she is really nice and friendly and genuine. Most of the good reviews seem to be friends of the manager - the guest book had nothing wrote in it for the last year. Our friends stayed here last season, thus why we went on recommendation - since then the place has lost its way this season, I suspect the son of the owners who runs it now started with great enthusiasm, but after a few years of the same old problems he prefers to go out skiing all day rather than maintain and manage a guest house.

2 star if generous, more youth hostel than luxury catered chalet.

I really wanted to like this chalet, as the hosts were friendly but there were multiple failures which led to a very disappointing experience. Firstly, the bathrooms are in quite a poor state; the water pressure is abysmal and during our stay, they stopped working (some of the toilets stopped flushing too). This led to all of the guests not being able to wash for about 2 days, which was unpleasant, despite multiple complaints to the owner. In one of the bathrooms, it is impossible to stand and have a shower due to the angled ceiling; you have to resort to crouching which is not comfortable. Also, the showers are either boiling or freezing, with very little tolerance in between.

The rooms themselves vary in sizes. The one I stayed in was freezing cold, even with the radiator on full. It felt like the windows were open. On the higher floors, the rooms are boiling hot. Our room also had a leaking pipe, with water coming through the kitchen ceiling. One of the hosts informed me that it had been leaking for weeks. The owner "solved" this with a bucket and informed us that a plumber had fixed it.

I have stayed in several catered chalets and this is the worst one I have experienced when it came to cooked food. The portion sizes were tiny and the breakfast selection was whatever they gave you - generally served cold.

Moving onto the hot tub, it all sounds very nice except the water does not get hot enough when exposed to the open air. Plus I saw no indication of the water ever being cleaned, hence the layer of filth floating on the top (possibly linked to the broken showers).

My overall impression is that this chalet could be so much better if the owner spent some money on improving the basics and concentrating on what matters to customers.
