Halberstädter Hof 

We booked this hotel at short notice, initially for one night. It is located in the heart of the delightful old town of Halberstadt, yet is surrounded by trees and half timbered buildings in a particularly peaceful and idyllic location. There is ample safe and free parking on site. The hotel was built in 1660 and has great character, though the rooms are modern, bright and very comfortable. Access to BBC on the TV was particularly appreciated on election night! The beds were clean and comfortabke, and even with an outside temperature of 27degrees our room was pleasantly cool with both windows open and shade from the trees. Wifi was excellent and uninterrupted. Breakfast was included in our package which cost €69 per night, and was comprehensive and excellent. We decided to have an evening meal on the terrace, which has comfortable chairs under the trees in front of the hotel. Again this was first clasd and decent value at €33 for two of us. We have travelled through the eastern half of Germany several timges and stayed in some very nice locations, but Halberstadt is the most delightful place we have yet encountered, and to find such a nice hotel right in the heart of the old town was the icing on the cake. In fact it was so good that we extended our stay by a furthet two nights rather than moving on. 110% recommended.
