A basic hotel, but very reasonably priced with kind and friendly people who will try to help you.  The bedroom was a little dated but the bathroom was smart, and seemed to have been just refurbished.  I had a problem with hearing music late at night from the bar but they turned it down as soon as I asked.  Breakfast was basic but with excellent coffee, which is always my top priority.  The restaurant is shut in the summer but there is a nice place right next door which always seems to be open.  You can't argue for the very reasonable price.

This is a nice bed and breakfast hotel close to Heidelberg. The rooms are large, parking is free and there is a nice garden area with a bar so you don't have to go back into the hotel for drinks. They don't do lunch or dinner but there are several restaurants nearby.

Simple Hotel

Good budget hotel

I wanted to sleep somewhere in Heidelberg, for not a lot of money. I did not care for sauna´s swimming pools, decoration, or anything fancy. Just a bed, a roof, and preferably not too far away from the centre.

The Schwarzer Adler fulfilled these requirements fully. It is a bit old fashioned, but the host are very welcoming and friendly. I took my bicycle, and was in a few minutes in the centre, so location was also good.
It was clean, but you see that the hotel needs refurbishing.

Breakfast follows more or less the above : What can one expect for 5 EUR?? So, basically, all the basics are available, but if you really want a cooked breakfast, go somewhere else :-)

don´t expect too much, as the prices are low!!

I stayed  for 3 night with my family the hotel was empty we were the  only guest it was dirty and smelling bad no one cleaned our room in the period not even made the bad  in the bath they did not have warmth and was so cold impossible to shower a kid. Only wi fi and breakfast was ok...but I do not recommend 

Didn't like

This is quite a basic hotel. Rooms are not so well furbished and could be maintained better. However, the dining room and rest of the hotel are very nice and the location is great. 
Good value for the price, all in all...
