The Woolpack Inn was the perfect choice for our prebooked family of 9 birthday meal after a visit to Longleat. The staff were pleasant and attentive and all our starters, mains and desserts were delicious. I highly recommend this gem of a pub.

This pub ticked all the boxes after a month of travelling. Very friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, and attention to detail. Well done!, we would definitely stay here again.

Went for a meal 14th July and the food was excellent and service so good. John and Bobbi so friendly and they looked after you so well. Will definetly call again.

The host cpuld not have been more delightful and accommodating- Melanie was charming and quite personable.  The rooms were so unique and comfortable.   The experience was more a bed and breakfast than a hotel.

Lovely lunchtime spent here with my dad and sister....we wanted a quiet spot to spend a bit of quality time together reflecting on the past year after losing my mum suddenly  in June 2024....this was the perfect place. Not too busy, great menu choices and very friendly service. Special mention to Marie and Mandy and the chef, Libby....we shall return very soon!

A lovely pub in a pretty village!

The hotel is located inside the pub. I was one of the attic rooms and didn’t hear any noise from the pub. The Sunday roast is well worth it. I had the roast beef and it was delicious. My room was a twin bedroom. It was fine but there was no floor length mirror. The mirror on the dressing table you could manoeuvre but you couldn’t see your full outfit. The mattresses need to be changed. Although I slept really well, the mattress was very lumpy with a firm impression on one side. The bathroom does need some updating. The shower, although was very good, you couldn’t see how to turn it off. I spent ages trying to turn it off as the instructions were not visible enough to see. The bath needs reselling and the flooring replaced. The breakfast is good value and the service is excellent. Everyone I met in the pub was friendly and hospitable.

The hotel is quite dated but this adds to the character. The room itself needs some updated furniture, more privacy on the windows, especially the toilet window as there was no way of keeping that up and if it was kept propped up it was in full view of the main road. There was a mix up with the rooms that meant somebody else took the breakfast we paid for and nothing was offered back to us.

We booked an overnight stay as having a girls weekend in Bath. I chose this hotel for the location, value and from previous reviews.  Firstly the staff were all very warm, welcoming and professional.  The hotel is a stones throw walking distance to the local bus stops ( bus goes straight through to Bath £3 pp each way) our bedroom was let's say a little dated as such and needed a little TLC but it was clean and tidy, basic necessities in place and spacious for a twin. We enjoyed our breakfasts, plenty on the menu to choose from too. We really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely go back but remember it is a old property, a hotel with a public bar/restaurant in it and needs a little TLC here and there.

I stayed here because my dance class at Claverton is near and Beckington was easy to get to off the A36. The staff were super friendly and the dinner I had was lovely, hot and well cooked.My only critique is that I had asked whether my room was in a quiet location and it actually wasn't. The noise from the bar was very loud and went on until after 11:30 which spoiled my visit a bit.  I also think that an upgrade of the bathroom is probably due for room 4.

December stay 2024

I booked for my husband, daughter and  I  to stay for two nights as part of a mini break between Christmas and New Year. 
Unfortunately, my husband was unwell over the Christmas period and unable to make it, so it was just my 12 year old daughter and I. 
I booked through Booking.com and was able to easily change our room from a superior double (with sofabed) to a twin, saving myself around £30.

We were met with a very warm, friendly welcome upon arrival and shown to our room, up on the top floor in the attic.

What a beautiful, charming room - spacious, clean,cosy, comfortable and warm, with all the old English rustic charm you'd expect from a building of this age in a quaint Somerset village!

We got settled and went down into the pub area for dinner. Again, we received a really friendly welcome and great service.
The pub itself is very pretty and was "dressed up" for the festive season.
Our drinks order was promptly taken and delivered - the range of non-alcohol beer, cider, and cocktails is pretty good, better than most pubs, and very welcome, as I don't drink, but like an alternative "grown up" option.

Our meals were ordered, some options were off-menu, but they were fully booked, so this was unsurprising.
I chose the lamb shank and my daughter the macaroni cheese, which arrived in good time considering how busy they were, hot, really delicious and with very pleasant service! The same with desserts (sticky toffee pudding with custard and chocolate brownie) - prompt, delicious and nothing was too much trouble!

We had a very comfortable night's sleep,  a bit too comfortable as we were almost late for breakfast! However, we were accommodated and looked after really well but a really lovely lady, whose name I didn't catch. 
Breakfast choices are excellent and we both plumped for the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, which was, again, delicious! The chef deserves a special mention too, because every meal we had (two evening meals, two desserts and two breakfasts) were really lovely! 
We had another relaxing, comfortable night and left for a great day out in nearby Bath after breakfast on New year's eve, before heading home to Kent. 

The pub was in an excellent location for our planned trip to Longleat too, which was absolutely magical! 
An excellent, warm, cosy accommodation with a gorgeous team of staff,  delicious food and drink, and a fab location - so good, I've already booked again for my daughter's birthday in March!

A really lovely, faultless stay! 

Excellent staff, looked after us well in bar and restaurant - very cheerful.Double room was adequate but definitely in need of renovation. "Mature" furniture and decoration. Plentiful hot water though despite lacking several fixtures, shower was good.Quiet room despite being on front road. Bed ok but pillows need upgrade.Restaurant food very good and reasonably priced. Good overall for price.

Overall good value

Recently stayed at the nearby Travelodge.  Was recommended The Woolpack Inn for an evening meal.
Booked for a meal and so glad we did as very busy for a Monday evening, which says a lot!
Staff friendly and professional.  Cosy dining area with log fire lit which was perfect on a chilly Dec evening. 

Decided to also book for breakfast the next morning.  Plenty of choice and again,  friendly and helpful staff. 

I would recommend and definitely would return if in the area again.

We arrived at The Woolpack on a cold afternoon, so it was nice to walk into a bright, warm environment.The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, this continued for our whole stay.The food served was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced.Our room and bathroom definitely needs some TLC and updating.We did have a lot of noise coming from the corridor door shutting.  This did interrupt our sleep. Even though the pub is on a road junction, we didn’t really hear much traffic noise.

Welcoming Pub

We had a great stay at the Woolpack it provided easy access to Bath on the bus and was a great find. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lad who instantly found someone who could book us in, we had a superior room and found it a very spacious and clean room but a little bit tired. A new head board would be good! We ate in the pub both nights and again couldn’t fault the staff and their friendly manner obviously a good team. The food was cooked to a high standard and was delicious. The breakfast great though I do miss the self service buffet, I don’t drink tea or coffee so would have liked a larger glass of fruit juice to have been served instead of them using the old size glasses that you could refill. Having said this the morning staff member was very good and refilled our drinks on request.Again we couldn’t fault food and service our full English Breakfast set us up for the day. We will definitely come back.
