We stayed for a couple of nights in August.  The room was spacious and with beautiful furnishings, and the view from the window was amazing. The whole place felt very homely.

Anton and Phillip were very attentive and looked after us very well. I have no hesitation in recommending this small hotel.

My wife and I still talk of about our three night stay in Shallowdale. This place has class with generous sizes comfortable rooms with beautiful rural views. The furnishings show impeccable taste by the hosts Anton and Phillip. Then there is the food, great breakfasts and the option of dining in if ordered in advance. Our advice is to take this opportunity as the food quality, preparation and presentation is first class. Possibly the best place we have stayed in after many years of travel.

My wife and I stayed recently for two nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Anton and Philip were the perfect hosts, very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The room was very peaceful with a lovely view of the extensive gardens and surrounding countryside. The bed was very comfortable and we had two great nights sleep. All the food is excellent (dinner should not be missed if possible). We will return.

A delightful guest house with unsurpassed views from all aspects of the house. We were really impressed with every detail of our stay from the tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom to the delicious breakfast in the mornings (delicious bacon and the best kipper ever). The hosts, Philip and Anton provided a very high standard of service from the moment of arrival to our departure. There were many small thoughtful details such as the chocolates in the bedroom and the tea and cake in the well appointed (and in our case, sunny) garden on arrival. Thank you both!

We stayed here for two nights over the Bank Holiday weekend. It was quiet and peaceful and our huge room had wonderful unspoilt views. 

Breakfast was great as the produce was locally sourced and the bacon, eggs etc tasted as they used to before mass production. 

Anton and Philip were attentive and charming as was their house and all the objects d’art etc. 

Would definitely stay again if we wanted to be in that area as the local dining pubs were excellent and the area is scenic and close to the coast as well as the Dales and lovely villages. 

My husband booked 2 nights here as a treat. It is situated in a lovely village and the b&b itself is a delight. Our bedroom had a large window with a view to die for. The house interior is  full of interesting antiques and books, the rooms are beautifully decorated. There is an upstairs sitting room with plenty of books to read, and a wonderful view. The downstairs drawing room has plenty of interesting art work and comfortable seating. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the bedroom and separate bathroom were luxurious. Anton and Philip were genial hosts, nothing was too much trouble, we felt valued from start to finish. There was a good choice of breakfast items and all were beautifully cooked and presented. We chose to eat here one evening (this needs prebooking). This is a 4 course meal, with no choice, however the food was superb as was the wine we chose to accompany our meal. The garden is also worth walking around.

We stayed for 3 nights in July. Accommodation is spotlessly clean, with amazing views from the bedrooms. Gardens are lovely also. Anton and Phillip are attentive and caring hosts. House is perfectly placed for exploring the national park. Highly recommended. 

Stayed here for two days 23-24 May in a beautifully appointed room with magnificent views over the garden and beyond.  Anton & Philip are excellent hosts and have thought of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Dining here should not be missed - the meals were well thought out and beautifully cooked with love. Intended going to York but the surrounding countryside was too good to miss and we didn't bother.
Would have no hesitation in recommending this superb B&B to anyone enjoys peace & quiet and excellent accommodation.
