Volga Guest House 

We booked Guesthouse Volga, because they would allow the accommodation with pets, that was the main reason. But our elder daughter changed her mind and didn't go, so the dog also stayed at home with her... But I suppose we were lucky to stay in "Volga" instead of somewhere in the center. Myshkin is a very tiny town, so "far from center" actually means about 15 min. of slow walk along the bank of the Volga river. The embankment is very beautiful! There were four of us. The room was not very large, but we fit well. There were 2 double and 1 single bed in it, plus a working table, a satellite TV and a fridge. There is also a combined bathroom. The room was very warm, in the bathroom there was enough soap and shampoo (not to mention toilet paper), a hair dryer was also available. They don't have their own restaurant there, but you can order a breakfast for additional (a very modest) price, it will be delivered from the town. We didn't use this option, though, because there was also a kitchen with crockery and cutlery, and various appliances (such as a kitchen stove, a microwave oven and an electric kettle). You can easily cook (but we preferred to test restaurants in the center). If you're in the mood for BBQ, the guesthouse will lend you a grill for free (but it's a Russian grill, so you will need some charcoal). They also have a a charming gazebo overlooking the Volga, so you may eat your BBQ there. They also have a free parking for your car. We were planning to cross the Volga on ferry, but didn't know, if the ferry still worked, and the receptionist was so kind to call them for us and ask. Everything was just OK, and for a very modest price! We spent 2 nights there and were totally satisfied. But I must say, that if our elder daughter and the dog also had come, it it would be a bit crowded. On the other hand, Booking.com says about our room "for 3 persons", but we were 4 and felt good. We would be able to accommodate 1 more, if needed. The guesthouse didn't object. Ah! And I liked their pillows very much! it was real feather pillows, not that flat nonsense with an artificial filling :-)
