Hotel Sommelo 

Due to the Pesäpallo's (Finnish version of baseball) annual East-West event, hotel prices in Kouvola were at their peak, so it was more reasonable to settle for the offerings in Kuusankoski, which is located less than 15 minutes away. Expectations were not very high regarding a basic three-star hotel, but this hotel exceeded all our expectations. The reception is not open 24 hours, and I understand that this is why the star rating cannot be higher. The breakfast was excellent, the room spacious and clean, and the service was top-notch. Daytime temperatures had been hovering around 30 degrees for a few days, and the hotel sent a warning via email in the morning, stating that unfortunately, there are no air conditioning units/cooling devices in the rooms, but table fans are available. With a mix of fear and hope, we checked in, but luckily there was a separate air conditioning unit installed in the room that managed to cool the room to the desired temperature. Overall, the price/quality ratio was excellent.
