Strandhof Möhnesee 

My Wife & I just had a few Days break here, to try & recharge the Batteries. I can honestly say, we are fully recharged :-) The Hotel Owner & Staff are all excellent. Don't be put off if they seem a little aloof at first - it is the Sauerland/German way, & they will do anything to make your stay as good as they can. The views over the Lake from the Hotel Grounds are amazing - you are literally at the Shoreline. I strongly suggest being up just after Dawn in the Summer to see the morning mist cover the Water & watch the many varieties of Birds taking their first flights of the Day. Bikes are available to Rent from the Hotel - a tiny EUR 5 per bike per Day. You can Bike or walk around the entire Lake, but that is 40 Km!! However, there are several Bridges spanning the Lake so you can make your "Round Trip" shorter. Also for Rent is a Pedalo Boat & a Fishing Boat, both also very cheap & moored right below the Lawn, with steps leading down to them. Breakfast is excellent - fresh cheeses, meats, Hard Boiled Eggs & Cereal; but don't expect scrambled eggs, sausages & bacon - this is much more the traditional Continental Breakfast. For afternoons they do a wonderful Apfelstrudel. Dinner Menu is good but limited, however there is a great Italian Restaurant 400 m away so you can have a change of pace! Free WiFi, nice shower, clean nicely furnished rooms, & the bigger ones have a kitchenette. Nothing negative to say - it was a wonderful short vacation; too short in fact so we will definitely be going back!
