My partner and I stayed last night for a romantic night in Margate. We had travelled far that day so to be great with such friendly service and a clean and cozy room was much needed, we were not disappointed. I was shocked by how beautiful the rooms were for the price point. All an all the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, bacon sandwich to my room in the morning was a great touch.

Very comfortable, clean and in a great location, very close to the old town. The bacon roll delivered to the room in the morning was a very welcome added bonus as well and the hosts couldn't do enough for you. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to stay in the Margate area.

This quirky guest-house experience was an absolute delight. If you're going to visit Margate, and you want to enjoy a real taste of the traditional seaside boarding-house culture, this is the place. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. We were personally greeted, shown to our rooms, and were amazed and delighted by a complimentary glass of wine on arrival, or a fresh pot of tea for those who wanted it. 

Now it cannot be said that this is a modern location, and as a listed building it clearly is a job to keep fully maintained. If you want straight floors, immaculate paintwork and brand new everything, go elsewhere.  But if that kind of genuine, lived-in and much loved character and texture is what you appreciate - and let's face it, you're in Margate so it probably is - you can hardly do better. 

There are two front rooms with magnificent sea views across the derelict Winter Gardens - get these rooms if you can. The view is worth it.  

Final appreciation for the breakfast. It's not the usual set-up, so you have to take it as it comes, but we absolutely loved having hot fresh bacon and egg rolls in a brioche brought to our room so we could eat them in bed overlooking the sunshine on the North Sea.

On the weekend of August, I decided to explore the beaches and white chalk cliffs of Kent a little. I chose Margate for the night. There, I was attracted by The bay - rooms only guesthouse. A little outside the center, but easily accessible from Margate station. A room with its own bathroom at an affordable price - everything a solo traveler needs to comfortably spend the night and move on early in the morning. Instead of all this, I received such a friendly and warm welcome along with a bottle of cold beer from the hosts as a bonus. We not only had an interesting conversation, but I also received valuable advice not to miss the unique Margate sunset. Steve and Hannah and their daughter, with their sincerity and friendly attitude, made this evening special and unforgettable. And allowed me to take nice sunset photos.

Beautiful small hotel with great rooms, front rooms great sea views i would expect. I had a rear room, but to me, a room is a room. All here are very clean and comfy with tv and free wi fi. Owners are so friendly that they would go out of there way for you.

Liked · I can't recommend The Bay highly enough - Steve and Hannah are the loveliest people and the most welcoming, attentive hosts. I was very reluctant to leave Margate as I had such an enjoyable, restful stay there. My room had a beautiful view of the ocean (JW Turner was right about those Margate sunsets - hard to beat!), and was very cosy and peaceful. I loved walking on Margate Sands along the ocean to Botany Bay. Thank you again Steve and Hannah for your hospitality and warmth - I'll be back soon!

Favourite spots nearby: Doubloons coffee, Forts Cafe, Oast Bakery (try their tartines!), Carl Freedman Gallery for contemporary art lovers & the mysterious Shell Grotto is definitely worth a visit!

We stayed here in an emergency after the accomodation we booked was unacceptable, Hannah and Steve were so lovely warm welcoming and calm after we turned up stressed! They couldn't do enough for us, Brilliant stay, the hotel is quiet comfortable homely and in an ideal location. We will definitely be back and for longer next time. We loved Margate and to see Tom Jones was a dream come true (Hannah even dropped us off at the venue otherwise we might have been late). Thank you Hannah and Steve you were amazing!! ❤️

A gorgeous little guest house in the most amazing location in Margate - just a couple of minutes from the beach, or lots of lovely bakeries and vintage shops. I stayed in the chalet which was so pretty and cosy and had everything I need. The owners were so friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome as well as giving great recommendations.

The decor is quirky and cozy and the room I had had a great shower and huge TV. It was like a home from home and the vibe was relaxed.
Hannah & Steve leave breakfast at your door in the morning which is a really nice touch.
They were so kind and flexible to my needs when I stayed and I really want to stay again for a longer visit next time.

lovely accommodation with the perfect host! They are such a lovely couple! We was given free can of drink on arrival as it was a hot day plus little extras in the room like shower gel on the bed and a smart TV! The room was ever so clean also. Perfect location and when we next visit Margate our stay will definitely be at the bay.
