Great place to have lunch - the cooking was very good and all the food was rich and delicious. Very decent wine and Flowerpots beer from Cheriton in Hampshire - great memory of near home. Thanks

We visited The Stapleton Arms (our local) last evening with friends from out of the area.  The menu was new and had some interesting additions, including some specials.  Two of us had the new main Scallop dish, one Sole (from the Specials menu) and one the burger.  All were delicious and very much enjoyed, as were the desserts.

Been here seves times since I moved to Wincanton recently and eaten most nights. Phil is always very friendly and welcoming. Took my best mate tonight and had excellent steaks and a couple of bottles of Malbec. Fantastic! Highly recommended Jeremy

Saturday night trip with friends. First visit and not local to the area. Excellent meal and Phil and the team hosted perfectly. Chef can definitely cook a steak and good wine choices. Cold night, warm fires. A good find and well worth a visit.

We came across the Stapleton Arms only because of a detour due to a road closure, and we are so glad we did. From the exterior Christmas decorations to the cosy, comfortable interior the pub is everything you want from a country pub, however the real gems are the staff who we’re attentive, happy and friendly and the food which none of our party of four could fault. We really can’t recommend this pub enough and will be going back many thine in the future. Well done.

An excellent Christmas Lunch for a group of 14 friends last week. Jo, Phil and all the team were brilliant and looked after us from start to finish in what was a very busy lunch time. A lovely balanced menu which catered for all tastes and was cooked to perfection! Keep up the great work!

Fabulous food and superb staff.  Two weeks running we’ve eaten at the Stapleton and the food has been faultless - great to see local seasonal  produce being used.  Service was also faultless - particularly Steph who made our evening each time with her warmth and humour.  She’s a real asset to a fabulous pub.

We had a tribal gathering where Isobel and I saw not just our great grandson for the first time, but granddaughters we had not seen in years. This celebration of all the generations was made perfect by the kindness and care that Jo, Phil and their team lavished on us.
The food was wonderful, as ever. And the room they prepared so that all of us could sit around the same table made it very special indeed.
If you’re planning a festive board, then the Stapleton Arms is the place to go.

Stayed close by to this pub, we had most of our evening meals here. Great pub good   atmosphere with helpful and friendly staff, all the meals we had was perfect. Would defiantly return and recommend, would recommend that you book a table. it is always a good singe when all the locals use it.

Pleased we ate here and were not put off by the recent dodgy review! Great food, surroundings and timely/friendly service. A good variety of food to choose from on the menu and my portion of haddock and chips was very generous - washed down with a great pint of Langport bitter. I had no room for a dessert after my starters/main :-) All of our party enjoyed their food - we will return!

We booked a table here for 2 on a Saturday evening. The food was excellent, the service very efficient and all the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We chose to sit outside in the end as it was such a nice evening and they have a lovely Pub garden there.
It's spacious and charming inside.
We would highly recommend eating here, it was wonderful.

Excellent country pub dining

We live 6 miles away and a neighbour suggested we give the pub a try. We were very glad that we did!
The menu was really good. It looked as if a lot of consideration has been given to the options available. For my wife and I, it's always a good sign if there are lots of options that we would happily choose....and also, encouragement for us to visit again.
We both started with the mushroom and Feta pie which was excellent.
For main course, I had steak and kidney pie, cooked to perfection and with an added pot of gravy. Chips beautifully done and veg cooked to perfection.
My wife thoroughly enjoyed her chicken curry.
I wasn't going to have a desert...get bored with some of the 'manufactured' deserts some pubs serve up, but when I heard that they were all home made, I thought I'd at least have a look!
The Bramley apple and pear crumble looked tempting....wow, it was delicious.
Good choice of wines and reasonably priced.
Finally, the staff. All amazing, especially as there was an England rugby semi final going on in the other bar and they were extremely busy.
A very enjoyable evening, and will certainly return to try the other temptations on the menu

I'd say this was 5* plus!

 We were just passing and decided to pop in. It was our first visit and wow, we were really impressed. Despite it being busy, our lovley waitress was very attentive and friendly. I had a delicious Omlette and my husband had a sausage ciabetta. Both came with chips and salad, beautifully presented and extremely tasty and excellent value.
Thank you, we will definitely be back👍👍. 

Saturday Lunch

We eat out quite a lot in this area and the food at the Stapleton is by far the best.  We have never had a bad meal there and the chef is amazing. My one criticism is the acoustics in the place. Bar and restaurant both get very noisy and it can be quite hard to hear anything. Small price to pay for such amazing food though.
